Thanksgiving Kindergarten Read Aloud Books

As November is drawing near, I decided to round up some of my favorite kindergarten read aloud books for the Thanksgiving season.

Seasonal books are my favorite! I love filling up the standing bookshelf with seasonal books for each month. Let me know in the comments your favorite Thanksgiving books, and if I missed any!

My all time favorite: Bear Says Thanks by Karma Wilson.

This book was gifted to me my first year teaching, and I’ve cherished it ever since. I love all of the Bear series by Karma Wilson, and that will have to be a future blog post! But this book is my favorite even in that series. If you haven’t read this one yet, I’d encourage you to give it a try! It’ll become one of your go-to November books.

Berenstain Bears and the Prize Pumpkin by Stan and Jan Berenstain

Another book without Thanksgiving explicitly in its title, but all about learning what it means to actually be thankful. A classic and a bit longer for a read aloud, but great if you have a little more time to enjoy it.

Who Will Carve the Turkey This Thanksgiving? by Jerry Pallotta

This is a fun read because it’s all about animals and what they might do if they were to carve the Thanksgiving turkey. It’s silly and a light read.

Turkey Trouble by Wendi Silvano

Turkey tries on lots of disguises to hide from Farmer Jake, and the book has a happy and surprise ending. Silly Thanksgiving fun!

10 Turkeys in the Road by Brenda Reeves Sturgis

I use 10 Turkeys as a start to our math lesson! By this time of the year we’ve focused on learning numbers 0-10, and this book is a great review of all that learning! Practice counting down from 10 with these silly turkeys.

What books are your favorite for the Thanksgiving season that I missed? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for stopping by.
